Challenge to G.O. on appointment in Nagar Palikas fixed for March 14

The Allahabad High Court, today, fixed the hearing for appointment of administrators in Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats of Uttar Pradesh for March 14.
It has been alleged that the posts were filled up by way of a government order in violation of Constitutional provisions.
Article 243 U of the Constitution of India provides that the term of Nagar Palikas shall be five years and the election shall be held before expiration of five years. By an amendment in 2006 the a provision was inserted for appointment of administrators in case elections for Nagar Palikas could not be held before the expiration of five year period.
A division bench of Allahabad High Court comprising Justice Ashok Bhusan and Justice Sunita Agrawal ordered the matter to be listed for hearing on March 14.
