The state government counsel has informed the High Court bench here that tiger census work at Narnala Wild-life Sanctuary in Akot tahsil near Akola which was postponed earlier has again restarted.
The counsel assured a bench comprising Justice PB Majmudar and Justice PB Varale that all care is being taken to see that there is no interference from the visitors in the ongoing census operations.
The Court was hearing a writ petition filed by Dr. Kailash Japsare, a resident of Akot, who had approached the court expressing apprehension that in view of Narnala Nisarga Paryatan Mahotsava - 2012, there was every possibility of visitors interfering with the census work.
As the said festival is already over and in light of the assurances given by forest department counsel and the state government lawyer, the court disposed off the petition as infructuous.
Advocate Mrunal Shesh appeared for the petitioner. Advocate Satish Deshpande represented the state forest department.
